Wadi Rum :
some
favourite places
Just in front of Jebel Khazali, there is a point where the red sand suddenly becomes white sand. It happens as if a line had been drawn across the desert. There seems no reason for it, the wind wafts the sand from one place to another, but the red sand remains red and the white sand remains white. This is one of the "sights" of Wadi Rum - the "coloured sand area".
The entrance to the Barragh Canyon from Um Zeliga
This boulder is lying on the ground just behind Jebel Anafishiya. Nobody I spoke to has any idea what the inscription means, but it must surely have been important to have been cut so very deeply into the stone. It isn't on the road to anywhere, it doesn't seem to refer to hunting and it is in a blind valley where it is most unlikely to be seen by accident. If anybody knows anything about this, do please call me!
