Jebel Khazali : a climber on
the dramatic Al Uzza route (see
photomap)

These are the two well known climbs, "Martha's Steps" (left) and "Al Uzza" (see above) on Jebel Khazali. You can see from the photo on the right just why the climb was named after the Nabatean warrior queen : the shape of the smooth rock very much resembles a woman soldier standing guard. According to the books, this 300 meter climb has been made just twice : the first time by Wilfried Colonna, Bernard Domenech, D. Condereaux and Tony Howard (partially). |

"Merlin's Wand" in the Barragh Canyon - "the super crack of Wadi Rum"
One day in April 2001 when I drove past, there were no fewer than 4 teams of climbers WAITING to climb this great vertical crack which is 150 meters high.
Jebel Barragh - a very impressive photo when magnified!
Three cliffs
Two climbs
(I am asked to point out that "The Pillar of Wisdom" is NOT one of the "Seven Pillars of Wisdom" - a name which annoys all old hands in Wadi Rum)
The massif of Jebel Um Ishrin
"Um Sabata" south of Jebel Khazali
